The Story Of LeeBB Art

Artist Lee Bagley-Bramwell poses at a local art fair

Hi there, my name is Lee Bagley-Bramwell. I am fairly new to the world of art, however, I have quickly found a love for watercolour painting and sketching.

With each piece of art, I try to tell a story whether it is through a setting, the eyes of an animal or even a slight smile. My journey has only just begun yet I have so much to share.

You will find that I love to paint animals and beautiful landscape paintings. As an artist the journey is continuous and you find yourself meandering through style, subjects and mediums.

How It All Began

When I was in my second year of what we call Primary School here in the UK, I was about 7 years of age, I painted a male duck, a drake. It was great for my age and I was awarded a certificate of excellence. I still remember walking up to the front of the assembly hall in front of the school to receive it.

I did art lessons at school as we all did growing up, but nothing serious. Just what we all did in art lessons at school. I wasn’t too bad. That was until I was 14. I had to choose my subject for the last two high school years. However, because we had to take a language, I ran out of options spaces. This meant that I couldn’t take art as a subject. I ended up getting a GCSE grade of D for German. To this day I feel I wasted my time learning a language. I’d much prefer to have taken art.

Then What?

Then I did absolutely nothing. No art whatsoever. I jumped from job to job. Over the years, work led me to a 10-year career in online marketing.

In 2020, I set up my own garden services business and never looked back. It’s great to be working outdoors and being close to nature.

How Did I Get Into Art?

I followed a friend on Instagram. She was going through a tough time with her health. She had taken up watercolour as a hobby. I saw her painting and thought about how beautiful they were. I said to my husband that I’d like to have a go at painting with watercolours one day.

Then, in Christmas 2021 He bought me a watercolour paint set from the range. Then, at the end of January 2022, I painted my first ever watercolour painting of a mountain. It turned out pretty good. That's when I discovered I could paint and that all those many years ago at primary school, I had something and that it wasn't a fluke.

I painted a couple more mountains over the next few months, and then in August of that year, I took it more seriously and started painting most days.

I set up an Instagram account to post regularly as my art diary. Since then I have been learning and progressing with each piece I create.

Most of my work is from imagination, I would say about 95% is from imagination.

I set up my website and have since been selling my art around the world to countries including France, Spain, Belgium, the UK, Italy, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

So What Next?

I am going with the flow. If opportunities present themselves, I will grab the proverbial bull by the horns and see where it leads me.

Now that you know more about me head on over to my shop.
